Events: Self-Produced vs Collaborative

In Sho-Soft, when creating an event, you’ll be asked to choose whether the event is Self-Produced or Collaborative. This selection helps define how the event is managed and who is responsible for its execution.

Self-Produced Events

  • A Self-Produced event is organized and managed entirely by a single entity (the venue OR the producer).

  • The entity handles all planning, staffing, inventory, ticketing, and management internally.

  • Example: Venue Woodsbury Center hosts its own “Holiday Gala” for the community.

Collaborative Events

  • A Collaborative event is organized in partnership with an external producer/client.

  • In Sho-Soft, a venue can invite a producer/client to collaborate on a specific event. Once invited, both parties can view and share event information in their respective profiles.
  • The venue provides the space and may supply resources (workforce, inventory, etc), while the producer/client collaborates in managing event operations.

  • Example: Producer Aurora Event Group rents  Venue Woodsbury Center’s Ballroom to host their “Aurora Gala.”

Tip: Be sure to select the correct event type during setup, since this choice impacts your available features and workflow.

Note:

  • Self-Produced events: Enable the Box Office tool for ticketing.

  • Collaborative events: Allows the venue to invite and link producer accounts, and use tools like Quotes, Invoices and share systems like daily Activities.

  • These tools are mutually exclusive: the type of event you select (Self-Produced or Collaborative) determines which set of tools you’ll have access to for the created event.
