Space: Parent Space & Sub-Space

In Sho-Soft, spaces can be organized into Parent Spaces and Sub-Spaces. This structure allows you to define large areas and break them down into smaller sections for more precise scheduling and event management.

Parent Spaces

A Parent Space is the main room or area within a venue. Sub-spaces can be assigned under it if needed.

  • Why It Matters:

    • Organizes your venue into a clear hierarchy.

    • Prevents double-bookings by distinguishing main spaces from their smaller areas.

    • Simplifies scheduling when different sections of a large room are in use.

Sub-Spaces

A Sub-Space is a smaller area within a Parent Space. Sub-spaces are used when one main area can be divided into distinct sections that may be booked independently.

  • Why It Matters:

    • Adds flexibility by dividing large spaces into smaller sections.

    • Improves scheduling by allowing multiple events in different parts of the same Parent Space.

    • Tracks capacity accurately by defining each sub-area’s size.

Examples

Example 1: Multiple Sub-Spaces
At Woodsbury Center, the Ballroom is a Parent Space. It is divided into two Sub-Spaces: Ballroom East and Ballroom West. Each section can be scheduled separately.

Example 2: Single Space
At Northridge Gardens, the large outdoor garden is listed as a single Parent Space with no sub-spaces.

Note: Using Parent Spaces and Sub-Spaces is optional. Not all venues need to be subdivided. Only use this feature if your venue has areas that require separate labels and scheduling.

Tip: Add parent spaces first and then add subsequent sub-spaces. This will enable you to assign each sub-space to its respective parent-space.
